"I just did what any doctor would do," Allena said humbly, looking at the cameras with tear-filled eyes.

Elisa sat on the floor. She looked past Simon's legs.She saw August standing right next to Allena. He had watched Elisa perform the CPR. He knew the truth.

But August just stood there, his face blank,allowing his PR team to steal Elisa's desperate,bloody fight for life and hand it to his mistress on a silver platter.

Elisa didn't scream. She didn't argue.

She let out a low, dark chuckle.

Two security guards grabbed her by the arms and hauled her to her feet, dragging her backward away from the cameras.

Elisa yanked her arms free.

She looked at the boy on the stretcher. He was breathing. He was safe. That was all thatmattered.She turned her back on the flashing lights, the stolen glory, and the husband who had sold her soul for PR.

She walked out the side door, leaving a trail of blood drops on the pristine marble floor.
